About this place
The Dutch babies at Komekko cafe stand out for their crisp edges and chewy centres. Made with rice flour, they come with sweet toppings such as red bean paste and butter, caramel nuts, and chocolate and banana, or savoury options including bacon mayonnaise and 4 kinds of cheese. One diner found the chewy base a good match for the red bean paste and butter, while another enjoyed the bittersweet caramel and toasted notes of the nuts.
One report says the Dutch babies take around 15 minutes to bake, so allow time for yours to be prepared. For a savoury meal, the lunch menu includes Napolitan for 600 yen, shrimp pilaf for 650 yen, and cheese omelette rice for 700 yen. A diner remarked on the generous dusting of powdered cheese on the Napolitan; another noted that the omelette rice was served on a hot plate.
For a sweet finish, there is pudding and a monthly cake; ask a member of staff what the current cake is. Coffee and tea are also available, making either a good match for a sweet Dutch baby during a break.
